A whirlwind 30 hours in Tasmania.
I’d always written off Tasmania as a sleepy, secluded, not particularly interesting part of Australia. However, the fact that I chose to describe my last weekend in Hobart as a ‘whirlwind’ suggests I may have got the whole Tasmania thing kind of wrong.
I’m now of the conviction that the ‘don’t go to tasmania, it’s boring’ rumour is actually propagated by tasmanians themselves, in order to keep their slice of heaven free from the rest of us mainlanders. Because I’m telling you, visit. Soon. Go for a weekend, rent a car, rug up in chunky knitwear and relish in the silence and beauty. Ben and I managed to visit the Salamanca markets, Royal Botanical Gardens (you can read the full post here), Eagle Hawk Neck, Devil’s Kitchen, Tessellated Pavements and Mt. Wellington. Oh, and attend a wonderful engagement party where much Taylor Swift and S-Club was danced to until the early hours of the morning.
We’re planning a visit back ASAP, and you should be planning one too.
