I've been eyeing off the Furla Metropolis bag ever since mid-last year after my previous Zara cross-body bag finally kicked the bucket. But, due to the $AU400+ price tag, I had reconcilled myself to the fact that owning one probably wasn't going to happen anytime soon.
However, thanks to a trip to Italy last January coupled with some incessant stalking of all Furla merchandise, I managed to find one that had been discounted so heavily that I could justify purchasing it as a Christmas treat. I ended up getting the 'petrolio' colour - a dark, petrol green that almost looks black in the photo above. I originally had my eye on 'magnolia', a light pink, but fell in love with the petrolio when I saw it in person (plus, it was the one with the large discount - motivating, no?). I'm finding it's a great alternative to black because it has much of the same versitility, but is just a touch more exciting because the subtle green really comes out in the sunlight.
If you're planning on purchasing one too, just a quick heads up - the pricing of Furla bags in Italy is substantially lower than the Australian pricing, which isn't particularly unusual considering it's an Italian brand. However, the pricing difference is also reflected in their online e-stores. With the current exchange rate there's roughly a $100 difference between the Metropolis bags on the Italian online store versus the Australian. So, if you also have your eye on one but can't quite commit to the price tag, either wait till their end of year sale like I did (generally 40-50% off) or start finding yourself a postage friend in Italy!
The full selection of Furla Metropolis bags can be found on the Australian Furla e-store.
Unfortunately there are no longer any Metropolis bags on sale - however, I did include a few of my favourite Furla sale picks in last weeks Wish list.
